Reeds Lithium Ion batteries are working hard for Australian prospectors
for nearly three years and the very first ones are still going
strong. They were a revolution, when they first became available
in March 2003. Not only the reduced weight compared to the traditional
lead acid battery, but most importantly the 8 hour running time
at a constant voltage of either 7.3 or 6.8 Volt were the major
advantages of this system.
There
was a great deal of speculation amongst prospector as of the life
span of Lithium batteries and even safety warnings that they could
explode or damage your detector. None of the large number of batteries,
which we sold in the past years all over Australia and the US
did ever explode or caused any damage to any detector and there
has never been any reason why this should happen.
The
manufacturers expectations regarding the life span of our LiIon
batteries were about twice as long as your lead acid battery and.
Most of our very early batteries are still running to their full
capacity. The Li Ion batteries in our pack are especially made
for Reeds. They never spend any time on the shelf – neither
do our batteries, they are usually sold, before they are manufactured.
